PACE pursues mainly two different, but inseparable objectives:
- To do scientific exegesis, by means of a rigorous application of the universally recognized methods of biblical studies;
- To do contextualized exegesis in order to answer the questions that African Christians pose to the Word of God illuminating the life of their communaities, in their particular contexts.
Thus, PACE aims at serving the Church in Africa in her commitment of being witness to the risen Christ, God’s Word become flesh. This is the reason why PACE is closely linked to the Catholic Biblicial Centre for Africa and Madagascar (BICAM), an organ of the Symposium of Episcopal Conferences of Africa and Madagascar (SECAM). BICAM is in charge of organizing and coordinating the Bible Apostolate in the content and its Islands.
These objectives are pursued through study congresses that are held every two years.
